John Aaron Rees, Sr., is the founder and President of Rees Commercial. Having grown up in Jonesboro, Arkansas, was a graduate of Jonesboro High School, where he played football, then for four years played with a scholarship for the University of Arkansas Razorbacks and graduated with a B.A. in Biology. Mr. Rees signed as a free agent for the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers for a short stint, then worked at his alma mater as a football coach.
Following his coaching, he worked with Fidelity Union Life Insurance Company in Fayetteville, Arkansas, then with George S. Busiek Investment Company and Home Life Insurance where he started his real estate career. Mr. Rees spent a few years in the tax exempt bond market with Crews & Associates, then joined McKay & Company, Danny Thomas Company, and Roger Thurmond Company in commercial real estate. There, he honed his skills in marketing undeveloped land, apartment units, and income producing properties.
In 1981, Rees founded The John A. Rees Company that dedicated itself to acquiring and disposing of raw land and apartments and developing single-family homes. While doing this, he increased his passion and knowledge in commercial real estate which morphed his company focus into where he is today as a full service commercial real estate firm. Rees Commercial’s portfolio includes 13 shopping centers and office buildings worth in excess of 60 million dollars. His ambitions are to continue growing and contributing to the state of Arkansas one building at a time!

John Aaron Rees, Jr., is Vice President of Rees Commercial. Born and raised in Little Rock where he graduated from Pulaski Academy, followed his dad and granddad’s footsteps in football, also obtaining a scholarship at University of Arkansas. Having received dual degrees in: Finance & Real Estate, and one in in Business Management, with a minor in Marketing, immediately started his real estate career working in brokerage & leasing, tenant construction, new project developments, property management, accounting and marketing.
John Aaron has spent the past four years towards achieving his CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) designation, in which he completed in April of 2014. Being a CCIM consists of having over 180 hours of advanced real estate and investment classroom and testing experience, passing a series of 6 tests, submitting a certified portfolio showing over 15 million dollars in transactions, and passing a comprehensive final at a proctored location given twice a year. There are only 15,000 CCIM’s worldwide, which certainly makes this one of the most elite designations in commercial real estate.
John Aaron has proven to be very helpful in his brokerage efforts and leasing up multiple properties. He has very good insights and suggestions in the developments and construction he is involved in. He is very particular with every client or project and won’t rest until all goals and expectations are exceeded.
